Irony in Advertising

I just got an email from American Express advertising American Express Gift Cards.


The ad was titled, "Be more original this year" and led with the line, "Gift giving just got a little more thoughtful."


And all this time I thought I was copping out with the gift card...

Seriously, that's pretty bad. No one thinks gift cards are creative. Someone should fire their advertising group. That being said, some people like unthoughtful gifts. There's always room for more money. :)

It's all about the "spin". If you can get people to fall for your logic, then it doesn't really matter if it is, in fact, logical.
I like presents a lot more than gift cards. But I like giving gift cards because its so much easier than actually using my brain to think of things.

Advertising is all smoke and mirrors! They just say what they can to get you to buy the product.
